You Can't Take the Sky From Me

In honor of today's Serenity release, I dug around and found some links from my days at FOX running the Firefly site:

1) San Francisco Chronicle interview

2) Hollywood Reporter interview (subscription-only link...weak)

3) Kelly's Weblog and the mighty Evan Williams' reaction

4) Our "Script to Screen" project

5) A video interview that Mays and I did with Joss Whedon (warning: very slow to load)

Audio Lesson

Just FYI, here's a tip from Owen.

Malibu Creek

Some photos from yesterday's trip to Malibu Creek Park, where Sarah witnessed a couple engaged in a not-so-hidden outdoor tryst, Mike caught two lizards and Owen discovered "Let My Love Open the Door" by Pete Townshend.

The List is Life

Submit to change/brutal deletion at any time, here's our current fall season pass list:

1. Veronica Mars (UPN)
An amazing, amazing show.

2. Lost (ABC)

3. Desperate Housewives (ABC)

4. Gilmore Girls (WB)
Sarah LOVES it, and I will reluctantly admit that it's pretty great.

5. Arrested Development (F0X)
The best comedy on television.

6. Nip/Tuck (FX)
Jeff got us into this, so we're letting the season three eps pile up while we cram in season two on DVD. Great show.

7. Kitchen Confidential (FOX)
We saw the pilot a while back and both liked it. We'll see if it can keep the momentum going.

8. Family Guy (FOX)

9. American Dad (FOX)
Shaping up pretty well.

10. Prison Break (FOX)
Cheesy and entertaining.

11. Bones (FOX)
Sarah's a fan (at least of the pilot). I think it's ok.

12. The Office (NBC)
I'm a fan. Sarah thinks it's ok.

13. Night Stalker (ABC)
Gotta support Frank!

14. Supernatural (WB)
Pilot was pretty good, and we're both suckers for cheesy sci-fi.

15. The Apprentice: Martha Stewart (NBC)
Could be gold.

16. The Apprentice (NBC)
Losing interest, but still giving this season a shot.

17. Surface (NBC)
Giving it a try.

18. Invasion (ABC)

19. Everybody Hates Chris (UPN)
Pilot was funny (but as Sarah pointed out, so was Bernie Mac...and that went in the shitter pretty quickly).

20. My Name is Earl (NBC)
I thought the pilot was pretty good. Sarah didn't. We'll see where it goes.

21. How I Met Your Mother (CBS)
I hear good things, even though I'm allergic to CBS. Plus, Doogie's in it.

22. Supernanny (ABC)
For tips.

23. SpongeBob SquarePants (NICK)
Owen loves SpongeBob more than I love Apple.

24. The Berenstain Bears (PBS KIDS)
Stewart's a big fan.

They Aren't Kidding About a Revolution

Holy shit. Once again, Nintendo demonstrates how they're the Apple of the game industry. Watch the video. Meanwhile, Sony and Microsoft are readying First Person Shooter XVIII, with really good graphics! Douchebags.

Two Decades of My Life

So evidently today's the twentieth anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Celebrate in style.

I Don't Care, Jenkins! Just Make it SOUND Like Widgets!

They're kidding...right?

What a Voice

I got some sad news a few days ago...Nick Farella, a friend of my parents (and someone I met numerous times through the years), died of a massive heart attack at age 57.

He was a great, funny, larger-than-life personality, and spent over 35 years as a radio DJ in the Chicago area. AWESOME radio voice. In fact, when some friends and I put together a no-budget short film (of extremely questionable quality) in college, he was nice enough to give us an on-air shout-out. Here's a clip (apologies for it being in Real format).

Here's to you, Mr. Farella.

Sony Gets Served

From Kotaku: "Here’s an interesting factoid: The top selling PSP title for the Playstation Portable is Need for Speed, selling about 325,000 copies as of the end of July. Compare that to Nintendogs, which sold 250,000 in just a week. Ouch!"
